Detroit Red Wings get: Mike Modano and Bill Guerin
Dallas Stars get: Henrik Zetterberg, Jiri Hudler, Valtteri Filppula, Igor Grigorenko, Jiri Fischer, and Miroslav Blatak(prospect)
We do this deal due to the fact that Modano and Guerin are the reasons why we are in cap trouble. We feel that getting rid of them will benefit the team for the future. We acquire a huge package of youth. Zetterberg will be able to step in right away to take the spot of Guerin as a top goal scorer. Hudler and Filppula could fill Modano's shoes in the near future. Fischer and Blatak instantly improve our horrid defensive core. Grigorenko will only get better with time and adds depth to our roster.
The Dallas Stars general manager proudly accepts this deal!

I am a big fan of Modano & Guerin and feel that they can help us win the Cup. Hated giving some much good youth, but these 2 are worth it.
Wings agree!!!

Not a trade rater, but just curious if the Wings realize how far over the cap this will be pushing them?
Current Wings Pro Payroll: 60.2 Million
Salary taking on in this trade: 12.75mil Salary giving up in this trade: 4.275mil
Pro Payroll After Trade: 68.675 Million
Salary Cap: 52.5 Million
This gives you 8 games to drop 16.175 Million worth of salary...
Just making sure your aware of this...

I'll give you reasons why this trade is vetoed.
A. Detroit moves WAY over the cap, I don't mind letting a few thing slide, like if you go two million over or so, where a cut or a line change will get you under, But this sends them way over the mark. If DET can figure out a way to cut ALOT of salary along with this deal with releasing players or sending some to Dallas, re-work the deal. But it's not going to fly with the massive contracts going to Detroit
